October 23, 8:00-9:00 PM: Virtual broadcast of Dia de los Vagabundos. This program honors the anniversary of Kerouac’s passing with a poetry “ofrenda” to our literary ancestors, with performances recorded at The Studio at 620 and Flamingo Bar.
October 18, 7:30-8:30 PM: In concert with Wordier Than Thou’s Wordplay Festival (October 15-18), the Friends will launch their Kerouac Book Club with a discussion of Satori in Paris, a novella recounting Kerouac’s trip to Paris and Brittany to explore his family’s history.
October 10, 7:30-8:30 PM: Sit down, get comfy, and enjoy a reading of Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. Reading by Bob Devin Jones. A tale as full of adventure, life, and growth as On the Road, but perhaps a bit more palatable for the youngsters
October 9, 7:00-7:30 PM: A virtual reading of the Kinderguides Illustrated edition of Kerouac’s On the Road with illustrations by Rose Forshall, book design by Melissa Medina, and text by Fredrik Colting. The Kinderguides series adapts classic books for a younger audience. Continue the adventure by writing a postcard to Jack!
